The Engineering team touches all aspects of airport life – from water to energy, rail to roads, baggage systems to runways. The scope and variety of what they do is vast, spanning mechanical, electrical, water, civil, rail and environmental disciplines. Together they are responsible for the performance of 500,000 assets worth £14bn. It means there are always a wide range of interesting development, construction and maintenance projects to get involved with. And a lot of ways to develop your skills, career and reputation.

Heathrow Engineering Apprenticeship Programme
- Applications should be submitted as soon as possible. This role will close earlier than the advertised date if we reach capacity.
- Four-year rotational programme.
- Please ensure you complete all of the application questions as incomplete applications will not be considered.
- You must be aged 16 or over and be willing to work in a shift-based role once you turn 18. You must be able to start the programme in early September 2024 and attend Uxbridge College.
The Apprenticeship:
Through the apprenticeship you’ll be shaping a career and gaining valuable on-the-job experience to develop into a qualified, multi-skilled Technician. The programme offers the necessary accredited training, guidance and support to develop the skills you’ll need to establish yourself in your engineering career.
All training, books, workwear, personal protective equipment and tools are provided.
During your four-year apprenticeship, you’ll be part of multiple high-performing teams responsible for maintaining the critical engineering infrastructure at Heathrow. You’ll develop a diverse skillset as you learn from experienced colleagues and build your technical expertise whilst keeping the program dynamic and personal to your interests and skills. This programme will result in you being trained to a high level of competence with an externally accredited apprenticeship programme containing NVQ levels 2 and 3 and further education opportunities.
